Dear Elaine,

This one was an experiment, a Five day intensive, by request, to fit it in between Monday and Friday.

We covered the whole course, with time for short walks, exploring the pretty town, even shopping trips, and just relaxing in the garden between classes. How we did it was by not having a free half day, and by not having our usual therapy sessions on offer. With hindsight we might have included some of these, but didn't want too intensive a programme.

As it was, people went away looking and feeling lighter and brighter, with the glowing skin and bright eyes we are used to seeing when our guests depart. It says a lot for the Living Foods Programme and for the group's determination to achieve this in just a few days!

Spotlight on Andrew

Andrew has been around since before we officially launched The UK Centre for Living Foods. In the early days he helped to get the house shipshape, and still does. Now, especially since Ray has retired from regular gardening Andrew does a bit more in that direction too. The tidy paths, gravel areas and sitting areas in the sun and under the pergola are all his creations over the years.

In recent years he has rebuilt the big compost bins and renewed the edging of all the raised beds. We use slab timber for this, which looks really natural, and offers a home to lots of insects. It's a by product of the timber industry, and best of all hasn't been treated with creosote which is the big drawback of railway sleepers. Here he is on his way up from the main compost area. I think he is en route to inspect the quarry tiles under the pergola, which needs regular weeding. A favourite spot for guests to take a quiet break in the sunshine.

Red Peppers & Batavia lettuce leaves stuffed
with lemon and coriander hummous

We had some luscious peppers the other week; juicy and sweet. I think from Spain. Flavouring the raw hummous with lemon juice and a whole big bunch of coriander is my personal favourite variation. I hope you enjoy it.

EXTRA RECIPE

Did you get your baby sunflowers growing?
If you are taking your health seriously this summer, it is a good idea, not just to use the wild plants and weeds, in tisanes and salads, as we mentioned last time, but set aside some time for a mild liver flush. If you have any health problems, or are in doubt about using new procedures, you should check first with your personal health care expert.
The Summer week
June 23rd to 29th, has a few spaces. That could be you, in the picture above, taking a break in the garden under the honeysuckle!

The next Living Foods House Party weekend, July 21st/22nd is also now booking.

This one has a residential option for the first few to book. It's an ideal way to get an idea of what it's all about, as well as to get started on a brighter lighter version of yourself.
