Dear Elaine,
|
A warm welcome to the May edition, especially if you are a new subscriber.
April and May are the time to photograph the garden bursting into life with spring flowers so here are some I didn't include last time. I'll be walking in bluebell woods next week so will send you those too.
This month's unavoidable topic is the much talked up flu pandemic. See
Comment for some advice from me, and a couple of references from the
saner press. "Don't panic Cap'n Mainwaring" (apologies to overseas
readers, it's too complex to explain, but it's now a catch phrase from
a much loved.- by the Brits- television series) |

Comment on Swine Flu
|
For any flu or fever, rest, drink loads, and eat very little. Stay out of other people's way, and get advice, preferably from a naturopath, homoeopath or herbalist, if temperature remains really high, or any other individual circumstances indicate it. Prevention is the best avenue. If you are feeling tired, under par, are short of sleep, worried about anything, your immune system could do with a boost. Have some Echinacea tincture by you, also Vitamin C, and stay away from places where you might pick up sniffly things. And don't worry and don't believe all those "news" bulletins. As you would expect, with my background I favour homeopathy and good herbalism, perhaps because over many years I know how effective they are, working with, not against, the person. Have a look at Robert Barker's message from the Homoeopathic society. There's an interesting story about other forms of energy medicine.

| Guest expert - Kenneth Spelman on sustainable Development

Kenneth spent a week here last year, and apart from all his knowledge, which kept the lunch table fascinated, I am personally very grateful to him for reviewing Holmeigh's protection from Geopathic stress, now upgraded and fully effective.
Kenneth is a Consultant specialising in Ecological Development and Climate Change. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Town Planner, Chartered Environmentalist and Co Founder of a new Climate Change pressure group Global Sustainability Alliance aimed at business leaders being involved in taking things forward which is something that Prince Charles has called for in his latest speeches in Rio de Janeiro.

| Recipe - Lazy salad
|
A way to make a handful of kale into a tasty lunch, without spending time to massage it! Put roughly chopped kale into a food processor, add some chunks of carrot, red and yellow pepper and an apple, and blitz to the texture you prefer.
Serve with sunflower greens, and cool cucumber, spiked with hot spring onions and a spoonful of red cabbage sauerkraut. It doesn't need salt or oil.

| Chronic Fatigue and M.E
|
BursariesSince the NICE review of the clinical guidelines on treatments for C.F.S. and M. E., I have had several letters from people who are struggling with the conditions, with their doctors, with their insurance companies and with the fact that no real help is available on the N.H.S. As a consequence there are many people, you probably know someone yourself, who just can't live a normal life, keep the job they love, or any job, and spend a lot of time in pain or disabling fatigue. This is one reason for offering a limited number of bursaries this year, so that people who have been on low income for a long time, but who are well enough to attend a week's course, can come for a reduction in the fees. The other reason is that more people than usual are asking for "energy exchange" deals, which we don't do, and it is obvious that a lot of health conscious people, maybe with different health challenges, are struggling financially. Any one who feels they fit this description is welcome to contact me. We will need some recent documentation, for example a health report, and/or a benefits statement/assessment, and will invite you to have a phone chat. Your details will be received in strict confidence. One or two people have already successfully applied this year, so bearing in mind that numbers are limited, get in touch soon and mention this newsletter. Click here to contact usThe NICE ReviewMy good friend Pauline, who sent the original information, has kindly sent a report of the proceedings. Regrettably a complete waste of everyone's time and energy, which is no small thing when you have made the effort to attend, some in wheelchairs. It seems the fiasco was caused squarely by the system and the lack of proper preparation by the solicitors. Click here to read Pauline's report.
