This is Doctor Sarah Myhill, as sunny, warm,
bright, and caring a person as you could hope
to number among your friends, let alone be
lucky enough to have as your doctor.
She has been trashed by some mindless idiot on the internet, and the GMC, bless its dirty little socks, has jumped at the excuse to stop her successful treatment of her many patients with CFS, ME, Fibromyalgia and other related conditions. Why? Because so many other medical practitioners fail to help their patients in these categories, and they don't like it. She hasn't harmed any patient, she is unfailingly courteous in her professional communications with her patients' GP's, she constantly researches her subject and generously offers all the information on her website, for all to benefit. What have they done? Told her to take down this useful information from her website, and restricted her prescribing. For eighteen months for goodness sake, they are certainly rattled. Yes I am incandescent with fury, all her patients and supporters and admirers are. Yes I will write about it in emotional terms (she doesn't, she remains cool and professional). I will also write, already have written, hard hitting and logical and unrelenting letters to the GMC and wherever else may be needed as events unfold. And yes I'm appealing to you to add your voice and rattle them some more. I won't try to describe here the whole shabby train of events. They are the kind of bureaucratic over reaching of powers (that means bullying) including withholding information until forced to disclose it. They've also been taking patients' confidential notes without notifying them, or asking permission. You last heard of this kind of thing from friends living in oppressive regimes, or when you read Kafka. It couldn't happen here? Just read from the links I'm going to give you in a minute.
