Dear Elaine,

Welcome to an early Midsummer edition. I'm recently back from two almost rain free weeks in Cumbria, with some days really too hot for long days out, though that didn't stop anyone, and a week of breezy slightly cooler days just asking for high level expeditions.

This edition's special subject is Transitioning to Live Raw Foods, Part One.
This was originally commissioned by the Fresh Magazine, and so many people have commented, that I've decided to reproduce it here for those who don't see the mag. It's a very good time of year to think about increasing the amount of live foods you use, but it definitely repays some time and thought, so that you can sustain it.

It is also a good time to do a detox or a few days on live foods, especially if someone else is doing all the preparation!
We have space on the June week 14th to 20th also the weekend, June 14/15th and will show you all the whys and wherefores of the original live foods programme, as well as take you through all the naturopathic elements of its therapeutic and rejuvenating properties.

Our courses are very much more than kitchen demonstrations, though there are plenty of those. During the week's varied and balanced classes you experience the effects of really good live food dishes, juices and energy blends and soups, practice the cleansing techniques, and learn how to look after yourself in every way. Help the detox process with a session or two with our skilled Manual lymph Drainage consultant, and take a little time for yourself each day to rest, reflect, read or exercise. My personal aim is to give you the knowledge, experience and confidence to take yourself to the next level of health, whatever that may be for you.

This month's featured garden is Holehird, near Troutbeck in Cumbria, a Royal Horticural Society garden in one of the most beautiful locations in the country. So the spring flowers, special specimens in varied settings and breathtaking colour combinations are all from there.
