Dear Elaine,

Welcome to the Spring Equinox issue, and a specially warm welcome to all the new people who have signed up for the newsletter since Christmas. Some of this month's pix are of wild or naturalised woodland plants, from a favourite spot just over the border into Herefordshire.

Everyone is greatly concerned for the fate of Tibet at this time. If you haven't had a chance to sign the AVAAZ petition, in support of the Dalai Lama, here it is.

So far, over 360,000 people have signed an urgent petition calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet and engage in meaningful dialogue with the Dalai Lama.

After nearly 50 years of Chinese rule, the Tibetans are sending out a global cry for change. But violence is spreading across Tibet and neighbouring regions, and the Chinese regime is right now considering a choice between increasing brutality or dialogue, that could determine the future of Tibet and China.

We can affect this historic choice. China does care about its international reputation. Its economy is totally dependent on "Made in China" exports that we all buy, and it is keen to make the Olympics in Beijing this summer a celebration of a new China that is a respected world power.

President Hu needs to hear that 'Brand China' and the Olympics can succeed only if he makes the right choice. But it will take an avalanche of global people-power to get his attention. Click below to help by signing a petition to President Hu calling for restraint in Tibet and dialogue with the Dalai Lama.

The petition is organized by Avaaz.org, a not-for-profit global campaigning organization. Avaaz is urgently aiming to reach one million signatures to deliver directly to Chinese officials.

Please forward this email to all your friends who you feel may be interested.

Looking out of the window as the train made its slow approach towards Euston, suddenly, amongst the tired & dreary London buildings, there stood a magnificent young Magnolia Stellata in full bloom, shining & lighting up the entire view. Such energy, vibrancy, enthusiasm & courage emanated from this glorious little tree. There she stood in her small back yard celebrating life, welcoming the new season & giving great pleasure to all who bathed in her beauty. Above is a picture of one of her sisters because, you too, are a star.

Step into Spring with your whole being. Immerse yourself in the springtime energy, growth, greenery & blossom. I wish, for you, the refreshment of Spring. Make it the 'season for the self' - an honouring of health & wellbeing, of life. The Spring Equinox, Festival of Awakening, celebrates renewed life & welcomes the lengthening of the days. It is often a time when strong winds blow as if clearing away the old to make way for the new. The air can also feel light & young as though embracing the new energy, hopes, aspirations & plans. Time for planting seeds both physically & symbolically. Choose a special seed & feel it full of life-force. Define then put into it what you want for yourself now. Picture the roots emerging & spreading into Mother Earth, giving you a firm foundation from which to grow & thrive. Then see the shoots growing upward, full of vim & vigour, transforming into that which you want for yourself & this you can now nurture. It is important to ground your dreams & this is a great way of doing it together with taking appropriate actions - not just dreaming or hoping!

According to the Oriental 5 Elements system this time of year is governed by Tree energy & is a very active time of year. It is about transformation & growth, the release of stored energy (just as in the seed), inspiration & self-confidence. Now is the time to deal with any unresolved frustrations, anger or resentments. Honest communication is essential & is well aspected this Spring. Your Liver & Gall Bladder will be all the more comfortable for it. So, resolve, let go & move on! Have fun - remember the Hare in March, full of antics & jumping for joy. May your magical seed grow & flourish. May you enjoy Spring's optimism & focus, stimulation & freshness. Springtime blessings, Nicky

This is the best time of year to take your health to a higher level. Much better than just after Christmas, which is really too early in the year for major changes. With the onset of Spring you can safely review your raw/live food intake, and increase the percentage. It's the best time to step up your exercise too. Fish out the rebounder, find your running gear, or just get into a good yoga or aerobics class. Some people like the controlled stretching, other people prefer to move swiftly and get breathless. They are both good. Why not do a bit of both? It's the time of year to book a short course of colonics, and maybe some Manual Lymph Drainage sessions too.

A few weeks ago we were having fun here filming an interview for the Raw Food Files, which will be available around midsummer. We'll let you know when they are on sale.

They comprise a series of interviews with people who promote different raw lifestyles, from lots of fruit, to largely greens, from 100% raw/live salads veggies and juices to lots of dehydrated dishes.

Variety is certainly the spice of life! With opinions, theories and practice from all over the UK, from long established and well qualified therapist/trainers to more recent enthusiasts, this series will get you thinking. Whether you agree or disagree with some of it, or are just pleased to hear directly from such diverse people, these glimpses will definitely inspire you to join in, and maybe review your own ideas.

Here's Emma doing a bit of scene setting and Paddy checking camera number two

Burgers with mango chutney

Here is Emma's recipe for delicious burgers with fresh mango chutney. She made them heart-shaped for Valentine's Day, but any shape is yummy.

The Spring group made sushi amongst other things. You don't need a recipe! Just some quinoa (or even rice), some sheets of dried raw nori seaweed, some colourful veggies, a sharp knife and imagination. Have fun! And thanks for the sushi mat Caitlin!

CAROB CAKES

They also made some Easter treats, (without chocolate or cacao)! Just almonds, honey, carob and vanilla. Click here for recipe
