Let us give a very warm welcome to YEAR OF THE RAT
(or Mouse), beginning Thursday, 7th February.

Year of the Rat marks the start of another 12 year cycle in the Chinese lunar calendar & zodiac. It is therefore a time for renewal & new beginnings, or simply for looking at things with a freshness & vitality. This new year will bring in many great qualities & energies such as being truly inquisitive, decisive, sociable & active, courageous & enterprising, versatile yet highly organised. Born survivors & deeply practical, rats can be a great example to us by welcoming challenges with creativity & energy. Rats symbolise luck & prosperity with a strong pioneering spirit. It will be important though to find a balance between stillness & activity, watching for too much inner tension & nervous energy. These can act as energy blockages or stagnant pools of energy taking us nowhere except to irritation & agitation. So, good creative emotional & physical expression & activity will bring us back to centre once more to enjoy & make the most of what could be a fascinating year.

From a HOLISTIC FENG SHUI point of view 2008 is also the beginning of another of life's cycles. The underlying energy is that of the element Water. Water has many different energies from cascading to flowing to calm, & from deep to shallow. The year will put emphasis on our life's path, our journey through life & is now time for the
conception of new ideas, for exploration & equally for reflection.

The energy is transformative, regenerating & empowering. Innovation & a pioneering spirit can fill the air. A good time for researching & planning, building upon skills & ideas. Intuition can be strong - respect & work with this from a grounded, centered space. Some people may feel the need to withdraw & be still, as if awaiting the wakening of Spring: avoid this tendency for the whole year though! Key health areas to look after will be the Adrenal glands, Kidneys, Bladder, our bones & hearing. Above all let's remember the adage: "Do what you love & love what you do."
